he Jewish
Community
Center basket-
ball team isn't
looking for glory,
These high school
juniors and seniors are
playing for fun.
"Our players either
didn't make their high
school teams or else they
have other commit-
ments," said volunteer
coach Brian Kaufman of West Bloomfield. "We try
to have games or practices three times a week, make
it fun and get them all playing time."
The JCC team has nine games on its schedule,
playing Yeshivat Akiva, the Jewish Academy of
Metropolitan Detroit, Temple Christian and
Westside Christian academies. In mid-February, it
will host a Midwest regional tournament of similar
Jewish Community Center teams.
The. JCC roster includes, from West Bloomfield:
Teru Fukui, Dan Horwitz, Jeff Kersch, Ben Piper,
Brad Rosen and Mike Zazaian. Team members from
Farmington Hills are: Rob Frankel, Adam Hertz,
Mike Kaplan, Jake Kaufman and Marc Piper.
