more than 25 years of singing,
recording and touring, teaches voice
and guitar at the Old Town School
of Folk Music in Chicago. Dundee,
who takes Hellerman's part, plays
guitar, has six albums to his credit
and recently spent considerable time
as a songwriter/performer in
Nashville.
Dvorak, who performs in Seeger's
style with banjo, is a recording artist
and performer. Smith, who has mas-
tered the Hays legacy, is a songwriter
as well as concert and recording
artist and composes for theater proj-
ects, including a musical telling of

The Grapes of Wrath.
"I'm a big fan of the Weavers and
have seen Weavermania," says Matt
Watroba, host of radio station
WDET's Folks Like Us and a
folksinger himself. He'll also be per-
forming at the Ann Arbor festival
and introducing the other acts as co-
emcee with Connie Kaldor.
"The shows of the Weavers are
meticulously recreated by
Weavermania, and the Jewish songs
remain staples in the repertoire,"
says Watroba. "Both groups have
made folk music very participatory,
and it's wonderful that the spirit of
the Weavers' songs is returning."
Yeshiva University in New York is
another place where the music of the
Weavers recently has been celebrat-
ed. Last fall, a video documentary,
Melodies and Harmonies, which
incorporated an updated version of
"Tzena Tzena," was premiered dur-
ing a songfest at the school.
Issachar Miron, 80, who wrote the
song celebrating life in the new
nation while a member of the
Palestinian Brigade of the British
Army, updated it with Seeger, also
80, and it was re-recorded by Seeger
and the Walkabout Clearwater
Chorus under Miron's direction.
Seeger, who talked about the nation
of Israel each time he introduced
"Tzena Tzena" at concerts, per-
formed the song with the chorus at
the Yeshiva program.
"Pete Seeger and his wife heard
our show, and they were extremely
complimentary," Barrow says. "He
said we sounded more like the
Weavers than the Weavers."
