Bar/Bat Mitzvah
Ivan Joshua Adelson will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Jan. 13,
at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek.
Ivan is the son of
Faye and Steven
Adelson and the
brother of Sari.
Proud grandparents
are Janet Adelson
of Tamarac, Fla.,
and Sookie and Norman Ordower
of Windsor, Ontario. Excited great-
grandmother is Renee Edelstein.
Ivan is also the grandson of the late
Ivan Edelstein and the late Bernard
Adelson.
An honor student at Warner
Middle School in Farmington Hills,
Ivan enjoys his summers at Camp
Tamakwa, music, classic cars and
spending time with friends. Ivan
also plays the saxophone in the
school band. His mitzvah projects
included volunteering at the Beth
Hayeled summer day camp and hol-
iday and activity visits at area nurs-
ing homes. He participated in the
Empty Bowls project with Jewish
Association for Residential Care res-
idents as well as involving himself
with a communitywide clean-up day
an the all-night fund-raiser for can-.
cer. Ivan has chosen to make finan-
cial contributions to three charities:
the Myasthenia Gravis Association,
in honor of his father; the
Karmanos Cancer Institute, in
memory of good friend Natalie
Goldbaum; and the Jewish Braille
Institute of America.
Allison Bornstein will be called to
the Torah as a bat
mitzvah on Friday,
Jan. 12, at Temple
Emanu-El. Allison
is the daughter of
Ina and Keith
Bornstein and the
sister of Mark
Bornstein. Proud
grandparents are
Audrey and Melvin Bornstein and
Lorraine and Alfred Dangovian. She
is also the granddaughter of Benita
Bornstein.
Allison is in the seventh grade at
Norup Middle School in Oak Park.
She enjoys music, dance and spend-
ing time with family and friends.
For her mitzvah project, Allison vol-
unteered at the Friendship Circle.
