making my customers happy to come
back many more times."
A GROUP GOT together a number
of years ago at Detroit Artist Market
to help celebrate the fall opening of
Harmonie Park in downtown Detroit
... The first year brought 350 people
... After two more years, calling itself
Fan Club of Metropolitan Detroit, it
went on its own raising funds for a
cultural organization with affairs held
five years at the American Center
Building in Southfield.
That 350 grew rapidly after it
became Fanclub Foundation for the
Arrs in 1998, with its event at the
MichCon Guardian Building in
Detroit ... In 1999 it was moved to
the Fisher Building, where it has
been held the past two years.
Last year's crowd hit over 1,200
and Executive Director John Bloom
expects this year's "Swingtime
2001," Saturday, Jan. 20, 7:30 p.m.,
to bring an even greater number as it
rakes over the Fisher's entire ground
floor.
Over 20 restaurants will include
Excalibur, Wood-Ruff's, Rattlesnake
Club, Beans and Cornbread, Blue
Nile, Capital Grille, Tom's Oyster
Bar, Zoup!, D'Amato's, Encore and a
host of others.
