Middle School in
Farmington Hills and
likes sports, singing and dancing and
going to the movies. Her most meaning-
ful mitzvah projects were volunteering
for the Coalition On Temporary Shelter
and making dolls at Hadassah House for
hospitalized children.

Alyssa Rose Sirlin will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday, Jan.
13, at Congregation Shanrey Zedek
B'nai Israel. She is the daughter of Valeri
and Keith Sirlin and sister of Carley
Annette. Proud grandparents are Julia
Murray and Esther
and Leon Sirlin. She
is also the grand-
daughter of the late
Robert Murray and
the late Annette
Sirlin.
A seventh-grade
honor student at
Hillel Day School of
Metropolitan Detroit
in Farmington Hills, Alyssa played on
the basketball and tennis teams. She
enjoys sports, computers and spending
time with friends. Alyssis mitzvah pro-
ject was tutoring Hebrew to second-
grade students at the Irving and Beverly
Laker Center in West Bloomfield.

Caren Michelle Steinway will become a
bat mitzvah on Saturday, Jan. 13, at
Temple Israel. She is
the daughter of
Debbie and Steve
Steinway and sister of
Stacie. Proud grand-
parents are Beatrice
and Marvin Howard
and Pearl Olshansky.
She is also the grand-
child of the late
Martin Olshansky.
Caren is an honor student at Abbott

Middle School in West Bloomfield and
enjoys piano, dance and basketball. As
part of her mitzvah projects, she was
pleased to make dolls at Hadassah
House for hospitalized children; she also
donated to the Jewish Association for
Residential Care.

Adat Shalom Synagogue. She is the
daughter of Jeffrey
and Lauren Tackel.

along with Ilyssa will

Jeffrey and Lauren,
her aunt Marlene

Matthew Weitzman will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah at
Congregation Beth
Shalom on Saturday,
Jan. 13.
Matt is the son of
proud parents,
Marilyn and Marc
Weitzman. He is fol-
lowing in the foot-
steps of his brother
David and sister
Lauren as the family's third b'nai mitz-
vah at Congregation Beth Shalom. He
is the grandson of Jeanette Stelzer of
Kew Garden Hills, N.Y., and Mary
and Alec Weitzman of Oceanside,
N.Y. He is also the grandson of the
late Jack Stelzer.
Matthew is a student at Norup
Middle School in Oak Pak. He enjoys
tennis, golf, baseball and soccer; but
his first love is basketball. Matt is on
the junior varsity basketball team at
Norup.
As his mitzvah project, Matt volun-
teered at Yad Ezra and participated in
the chaplaincy program at Coville
Apartments, working with senior citi-
zens.
