Your Hosts At

fish have been served in the three years
since opening ... Among the specials
sometimes is a potato encrusted white-
fish with a lemon Dijon sauce ... and a
chargrilled Alaskan salmon served with
a strawberry dill yogurt sauce.
Also not on the menu is its tilapia
stuffed with crabmeat ... This is a fine
seafood dish worthy of many repeat
orders ... Stuffed too with artichoke,
spinach, walnuts and Emmenthal
cheese.
Chef Makowski is from 220 Merrill
... and Chef Willhoft the former cor-
porate chef ar Big Frog Taverns ... Plus
the menu items, they are also responsi-
ble for the homemade bread at Wood-
Ruff's.
Kitchen hours are Tuesday and
Wednesday, 5-10; Thursday, Friday
and Saturday, 5-11; Sunday 5-9.
Brian Dishell, popular key-tickler on
the piano, shares family ties with Abe
Dishell, his grandfather's brother ...
Abe had Dishell's Restaurant on
Dexter ... Brian provides the entertain-
ment himself on Tuesday and
Wednesday evenings ... Thursday,
Friday and Saturday, he plays 6 to 9
p.m., after which a jazz group comes
in until 1 a.m.
The previous restaurant at the Sixth
Street location in ROyal Oak was com-
pletely gutted ... In its place is one
with high ceilings, warm tones, cop-
per-plated walls, embossed carvings,
mission-style lamps, etched glass,
white linen napkins and tablecloths,
hardwood bar, etc.
Other than its creative kitchen and
strikingly-styled interior, Wood-Ruff's
Supper Club has gained a reputation for
its variety of liquors ... 14 single malt
Scotches, six bourbons, 10 cognacs, 10
vodkas plus about 11 flavors.
All wines are both by the glass and
bottle.
Wood-Ruff's is an enjoyable experi-
ence.
NEW YEAR'S EVE was a bit like
years past when going to more than
one place to celebrate was the norm ...
The evening began. at Andiamo Italia
Celebrity Showroom with longtime
favorite, the Platters, on 14 Mile in
Warren.
Joe Vicari's Celebrity Showroom is
elegant now and was a sophisticated
setting for this hard-working group
who will open soon at the Stardust in
Las Vegas with their charts that live on
and on through personnel changes.
Hors d'oeuvres galore ... Gracious
and efficient white-gloved waitpersons
in tuxedos serving soup, salad, beef
Wellington, tortellini pasta and dessert
... Open bar, dancing and the Platters.
