PHOTOGRAPHY BY DANIEL LIPPITT

t a recent Saks Fifth
Avenue fashion show at
the Somerset Collection,
guests viewed the St.
John cruise/spring 2001 styles.
Although St. John fashions are
known for their classic knitwear
looks and timeless designs, the 2001
collection is fresh and less staid.
"We've created dozens of bold, strik-
ing, individual styles that intermix
beautifully with an end result that is
sometimes businesslike, often
sporty, but always feminine," says
designer Marie Gray.
Sorbet colors like pistachio and
strawberry deliver an appealing look
to the St. John signature line, while
ice blue leather and navy linen add
pizzazz to the St. John Sport collec-
tion. The evening designs sparkle
and capture the sexy sophisticated
looks of the collection.
