QUITE RIGHT!

Recall the charm of an English garden
cottage with Jimmie's new Bombe Chest

said Camille Hill, a cook. She said
that most of the children were cele-
brating the holidays with their fami-
lies, but kids from neighboring chil-
dren's homes would be served
Christmas lunch in the lockdown
facility.
Bill Schloner of West Bloomfield
came with his son, Jonathan, 9.
"It's a day off for us, but there's still
work that needs to be done," he said.
"I like to help other people out for the
holidays."

Beautifully hand-painted sage motif,
accented in green and gold, and all with

an antique multi finish. Jimmie originally

selected this chest for a den or bedroom

... but he likes it so much that now he

wants it out where friends can enjoy it.

This chest is at home anyplace where

where fun and functional elegance

intermingle. Come and see all that's

new at Jimmies!

By 1 L30 a.m., 200 needy people had
already come through the doors of the
St. Christopher House in Detroit, and
received a hot meal, a warm coat and
a toy for their children, said Linda
Orbach-Shear, Federation's site coordi-
nator.
Fifteen Mitzvah Dav volunteers,
five of them children, cooked, served,
cleaned and helped people try on
coats donated by the Oakland County
Sheriff's Department.
Melvin Frazier, director of St.
Christopher's, said he expected about
300 by 2 p.m.
"It means a lot of things when the
Jewish community comes out to
help," he said. "We're all people. We
may come from different places and
situations, but we're all people, and
it means that we're here to serve
anyone who comes through the
door."

St. Leo Soup Kitchen in Detroit
opened its doors at 11:30 a.m., invit-
ing 188 people to enjoy a warm meal,
gifts and shelter. Thirty-three
Federation volunteers assisted site
coordinators Mindy Soble Kaufman of
Bloomfield Hills and Pamela Lippitt
from West Bloomfield.
"I get a joy out of helping others
and making their special day more
enjoyable," said TV sportscaster Jim
Berk of West Bloomfield.
Joseph Micallef, St. Leo Soup
Kitchen supervisor, said, "Working
here, you become a part of it. They
tell you their problems and let you
into their lives."
Catholic Bishop Thomas
Gumbleron explained, "By giving
people something to eat, we are their
lifeline. We are not only feeding the
body, but also feeding the spirit." D
