served over pasta, is well liked by
many.
Chef Richei is rightly proud of his
fish presentations ... He took over at
Henry Ford Hospital after Chef Joe
Beato left to open his own restaurant,
Il Centro, on Lothrop Street behind
Detroit's Fisher Theatre.
Chef Richei's fish preparations were
a big favorite of the medical commu-
nity, patients and outsiders ... Like his
broiled whitefish with a lemon-garlic
sauce ... or prepared in olive oil ...
Also Beat's various salmon dishes ...
grilled or poached ... or with mussels
over a bed of sauteed spinach.
Veal topped with Pomodoro sauce
and Parmesan cheese ... or with
Parmesan sauce and artichokes, are
wanted items ... as is the sauteed
boneless breast of chicken topped
with sage and Prosciutto, served with
a Marsala sauce.
DaVinci's Market is open for din-
ner, Tuesday-Saturday, 5-11 p.m.;
lunch, 11 a.m.-3 p.m.; Sunday
brunch, 11 a.m.-2:30 p.m. ...
Breakfast is served seven days from
6:30 a.m.
The room is a pleasant one, with
white tablecloths, black napkins, dark
woods, frosted glass and candlelight
on tables.
DaVinci's Market's wine list, 20 by
the bottle and seven by the glass, con-
tains numerous good choices.
Chef Richei makes a rack of lamb
that includes crushed roasted peanuts
that he sprinkles with bread crumbs
after brushing with chutney ... Also a
linguine with salmon in a saute of
garlic and shallots, plus the addition
of Morel mushrooms, is a delicious
entree.
Neither is on the menu but people
are discovering that he is among the
few who will make these excellent
dishes.
Who knows? ... They just might
become DaVinci's destination items ...
For sure, Chef Richei's HeartSmart
recipes will.
GET-WELL WISHES ... to Sid
Neuman, Star Deli co-owner ... in
room 6616 at Beaumont Hospital ...
after emergency surgery.
MAIL DEPT. ... from Sandy
Loefler "I thought you might want
to do your female readers a favor and
print this "diet menu". It appeared on
the Jewish Food List and was submit-
ted by member Avril Gatoff, who lives
in Manchester, England. She writes:
"This is a specially formulated diet
designed to help women cope with
the stress that builds up during the
day.
