Katie Howard will celebrate her bat
mitzvah on Saturday, Dec. 9, at
Temple Beth El. Her proud parents
are Sue Ann

Jeffrey Howard.

the ceremony.
Elaine Canvasser
will be with her granddaughter in
spirit.
Katie is on the dean's list at
Cranbrook/Kingswood School in
Bloomfield Hills. She enjoys music,
dancing, her friends at summers at
Camp Tamakwa. She participated
in several mitzvah projects includ-
ing COTS and Yad Ezra and helped
in activities with people living at
Fleischman Residence. She particu-
larly enjoyed raising funds for
WAGS, an organization that assists
AIDS patients to keep their pets.

Emily Rosenbloom Kaplan will be
called to the Torah
as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Dec. 9,
at Congregation
Shaarey Zedek. She
is the daughter of
Gail and Robert
Kaplan and the sis-
ter of Ilyse and
Greg. Emily's
grandparents Diane
and Phil Kaplan will be with her to
celebrate the simcha. Emily is also
the granddaughter of the late Essie
and Itzie Rosenbloom.
Emily is a student at Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills. She has attended
Camp Ramah for the past four
summers. Emily loves to dance, and
plays tennis and basketball on her
school teams.

Michael Adam Kelmenson will be
called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah
on Saturday, Dec. 9, during
Havdalah services at Temple Israel.
He is the son of Sara Braverman
and Dr. Robin Kelmenson and
brother of Daniel and Rachel.

His most meaningful mitzvah pro-
ject was assisting at a carnival for
the Jewish Association for
Residential Care.

Justin Aaron Klein will become a
bar mitzvah on Saturday, Dec. 9, at
Temple Israel. He is the son of
Jacqueline Klein
and Steven and
Danielle Klein and
brother of Brittany.

as well as great-
grandmother Bela Lewis.
A North Farmington High School
student, Justin likes basketball, foot-
ball and movies. His favorite mitzvah
projects were taking part in the Kever
Avot program to assist seniors in vis-
iting gravesites of their loved ones
and participating in the Maccabi
Games last summer.

Erica Rachel Nedelman will be called
to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Friday, Dec. 8, at Temple Beth El.
She is the daughter
of Laurie and
Michael Nedelman
and sister of Alana.
Proud grandparents
are Alvin and
Blanche Levine and
Lawrence and Anna
Nedelman.
An honor stu-
dent at Warner Middle School in
Farmington Hills, Erica enjoys art,
water skiing and snow skiing. She
has spent the past five summers as a
camper at Camp Tamarack. Her
mitzvah project involved work with
the Jewish Association for
Residential Care, including arts-
and-craft projects at one of the
homes.
