County and The Jewish News are joining forces to raise awareness about
hunger and funds to purchase nutritious food for the needy in the metro
Detroit community through an *Empty Bowls project.

member of the city of Detroit Arcs
Commission, vice chairman of Sinai

Congregations.

Estate Development
and Investment Co.
(REDICO), a
Southfield-based
company responsible
for building the Top
of Troy, Ameritech
Robert Sosnick
Building, Oakland
Town Center and
Troy Office Centers I and II.
In addition to industrial real-estate
developments, Mr. Sosnick was
involved in the sports and entertain-
ment industry. He was a partner in
Palace Sports and Entertainment Inc.,
which owns and operates Pine Knob
Music Theatre in Clarkston, the
Palace of Auburn Hills and the Ice
Palace in Tampa Bay, Fla.
He co-owned the NHL Tampa Bay
Lightning and the Detroit Vipers.
Susan Sosnick, Mr. Sosnick's wife, will
present the award.

'Empty Bowls is a project of the Imagine/Render Group, a 501(03 non-
profit organization dedicated to positive and lasting social change
through the ads, education and projects that build community.

The Sephardic Community of Greater
Detroit elected new officers for 2000-
2002. They are Eli Shalom, president;
Stan Alspector, vice president; Lucien
Darmon and Ron Harris, treasurers;
Rick Behar and Susan Alspector, secre-
taries; Isaac Ben-Ezra, immediate past
president; Dr. Elie Aboulafia, Victor
Bassly, Jake David, Ed Dayan, Marcia
Harris, Sam Papo, Alvin Sterns and
Youssef Tishbi, board of directors.
In 1999, the Sephardic Community
broke ground for its own synagogue at
Orchard Lake and Walnut Lake roads.
The congregation's hope is to hold
High Holy Day services there in 2001.
For now, services are held at 9 a.m.
Saturday and Sunday at 5544 Drake
