Laura Jill Langberg will be called to the
Torah as a bat mitzvah on Saturday,
Dec. 2, at
Congregation Beth
Ahm. She is the
daughter of Lois and
Mark Langberg and
sister of Sam and
Andy. She is the
granddaughter of
Evelyn and Isadore
Silverman and Helen
and Harold Langberg.
Laura is in seventh grade at
Berkshire Middle School in
Birmingham. She enjoys dance, kayak-
ing, skiing, camp and hanging out with
friends. Laura volunteered the last two
summers as a counselor at Safety Town.
Stephen Jeffrey Nucian will be called to
the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday,
Dec. 2, at Adat
Shalom Synagogue.
Stephen is the son of
Richard and Susan
Nucian and the
brother of Joshua
Nucian. Proud
grandparents are Lew
and Mollie Nucian of
West Bloomfield and
Don and Dorothea Sumpter of Palm
Harbor, Fla.
Stephen is a seventh-grade honor
student at Warner Middle School in
Farmington Hills. He enjoys sailing
with his family and participating in
baseball, football and wrestling, skiing
and snowboarding. Stephen also plays
the piano and the French horn and
loves listening to music.
For his mitzvah project, Stephen
enjoyed volunteering at the Danto
Family Health Care Center, escorting
his parents to Shabbat services and also
participating in the services. He plans
to continue volunteering following his
bar mitzvah.
Samantha Ryan Sher will become a bat
mitzvah at Temple Israel on Friday,
Dec. 1. She is the daughter of Randee
and Howard Sher and sister of Taylor.

An honor student at Orchard Lake
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
Samantha enjoys dancing, reading,
horseback riding and summers at
Camp Walden. She found it particu-
larly meaningful to volunteer at Yad
Ezra as part of her mitzvah projects.
Jack Elliot Silver will be called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah on Friday,
Dec. 1, at
Congregation Shir
Tikvah. He is the
son of Beth and
Michael Silver and
brother of Rachel Jo
Silver. Proud grand-
parents are Marilyn
and Robert Silver.
He is also the grand-
son of the late Dorinne and Stuart
Velick.
Jack is in seventh grade at the
Roeper School in Birmingham. He
enjoys soccer, skateboarding and snow-
boarding and plays goalie for the
Birmingham Rangers Pew Wee AA
hockey team.
His mitzvah projects have included
helping at Yad Ezra, Oakland County
Food Bank, Friendship Circle, assisting
with young campers at Camp Maas
and with a variety of neighborhood
and school projects.
Alexandra Hallie Stuart will celebrate
her bat mitzvah on
Friday; Dec. 1, at
Temple Israel. She is
the daughter of Lori
Stuart and Peter and
Sondra Stuart and
sister of Zachary.
Excited grandparents
are Margie and Bill
Oberfelder and Joyce
Stuart. She is also the grandchild of
the late Hershel Stuart.
Alexandra attends Abbott Middle
School in West Bloomfield, where she
is an honor student. Her hobbies
include dance, cheerleading and ski-
ing. Among her mitzvah projects,
Alexandra performed at a senior resi-
dence and volunteered when Temple
Israel housed the homeless. She also
helped with babysitting at temple dur-
ing services.
