DEPARTMENTS

Forever Ours

early 3,000 people converged on Congregation
Shaarey Zedek on Nov. 24 to pay him their final
respects,
But my guess is that David Hermelin, of
blessed memory, would have wanted us
to spend the time with family, helping
others and living Jewishly. He was that
kind of person.
He enjoyed the spotlight, but thrived
behind the scenes.
He liked praise and plaudits, but
delighted in lauding and honoring.
He would lead, but kvelled in board-
ing a charitable bandwagon.
He was not mystical, only caring.
ROBERT A.
He was not Divine, only a man.
SKLAR
Still, he was extraordinarily special.
Editor
His memory will find refuge in all
who he embraced and in all who sought to embrace him.
Our tribute to this superstar of Jewish Detroit begins on

page 9.

May the gifts of Torah shower not only his loved ones, but
also other grieving families in our community.
David, whose soul embodied those precious gifts, would
have wanted that.
