oriental fans, 120 bottles of Evian water,
650 pairs of chopsticks, 16 hanging
Chinese displays, 65 bottles of soy sauce,
325 cinnamon sticks, 25 pounds of
vanilla batter, 25 pounds of cherry bat-
ter, 25 pounds of chocolate batter.
All ages were there ... and the kids had
more than just an eating good time ...
Fun-loving pianist Stefan Kukurugya,
had the youngsters dancing the hora
(Danielle, Zack and Evan Goodman,
children of West Bloomfield-ites Harriet
and Wally Goodman, among others)
and singing along with him.
Every form of Judaic observance ...
Reform, Conservative and Orthodox ...
eating and enjoying the togetherness fes-
tivities that was far and away so much
better than many thought it would be.
Rabbi Milton Arm, Rabbi Daniel
Nevins, Rabbi Herbert Yoskowitz, Rabbi
Jay Strear, Cantor Howard Glantz,
Cantor Larry Vieder, Ed Kohl, past pres-
ident of Congregation Beth Achim;
Terran Leemis, past president of Adat
Shalom; Lea Luger, director of Yad Ezra;
Eva Mames, director of Ambulances For
Israel; Rabbi Herman Roth, Rabbi
Joseph Krupnik of the Vaad Harabonim,
Rabbi Charles Rosenzweig of the
Holocaust Memorial Center ... Even
two Jeffrey Rosenbergs ... the kosher
caterer and mashgiach (kosher supervi-
sor) Jeffrey Rosenberg of the Council of
Orthodox Rabbis.
It was a momentous occasion ... and
handled like a well-organized banquet
buffet should be ... the first glatt kosher
all-you-can-eat Chinese buffet in
Michigan.
Those who have asked when the next
one will be held won't have to wait long.
The second glatt kosher Chemed din-
ner at Adat Shalom will be Thursday,
Dec. 14 ... an all-you-can-eat glatt
kosher Italian dinner.
If the kosher Chinese buffet was any
indication ... and was only a trial ...
Jeffrey better prepare for that 1,000
again ... or more ... For sure so many of
those who didn't attend the Chinese
buffet but still talked about it will be
among the Italian buffet count.
THE PICTURE OF Florine Mark,
president and CEO of Weight Watchers
Group here, as the latest personality in
Buddy's Pizza's "Got Pizza? Give
Dough!" campaign for charity, sure
doesn't do her justice.
But then again, Florine doesn't have a
red moustache either ... as depicted in
the photograph like the white bristles on
those milk promotional ads.
Florine's Weight Watcher-approved
signature pizza will put dollars in the
coffers of Detroit Institute for Children
... Beginning Friday, Dec. 1, at all nine
