ere's a question for a con-
testant on Who Wants to be
a Millionaire: "Which
Detroit agency, formed in
the 1930s, is the public affairs coordi-
nator for over 200 local Jewish organi-
zations?"
Need a lifeline? The answer is the
Jewish Community Council of
Metropolitan Detroit, based in
Bloomfield Township, the sponsor of a
new Web site,
vvww.jewishcommunitycouncil.org .
The Jewish Community Council's
Community Calendar has been avail-
able on the Internet for quite a while,
allowing surfers and seekers the possi-
bility of accessing goings-on in
Detroit. Searchable by date, week and
month, the calendar is also a good
way to post one's own Jewish organi-
zation activities.
Now, though, it's possible to enjoy
a virtual tour of Council for informa-
tion on its work and positions on
issues in the areas of government rela-
tions, domestic issues and Israel and
world Jewish communities. Learn
about the Council's special projects,
such as the Detroit Jewish Coalition
for Literacy and the Detroit Jewish
Initiative. Find Council volunteer
opportunities. Read all the Council
publications.
Launched on Sept. 1, some of the
pages are still under construction,
but overall, the Web site is well-con-
structed and easy to navigate. This is
another of your informational sites,
strictly one-dimensional, which
means you won't be listening to
music or watching live action. Think
of it as an online reference to the
work and opinions of a large
umbrella organization.
Maybe you're curious about
Council's position on school vouchers.

Traveling Safe
To Israel
The Israel Ministry of Tourism has
added a new feature to its Web site,
designed to address travelers' concerns
about the current situation in Israel.
The new section, labeled "What
today's headlines mean to tourists to
Israel" can be found at
www.goisrael.com . This feature helps
travelers obtain credible information,
helping them make educated choices
and plan their trip accordingly.
