Boheme, which opened the Michigan Opera Theatre's fall season. But
while La Boheme takes place in 19th-century Paris, Rent is about life in pres-
ent-day bohemia — Manhattan's East Village — where multiracial strug-
gling artists of various sexual orientations try to make their mark while
struggling with AIDS and poverty. Adapted from the Albuquerque Tribune,
