Bernice and Al Deutsch taught their three
sons by example.

Bob, Dennis and Morris could see how
much their congregation and community
meant to their parents. A deep sense of
gratitude led the senior Deutsches to give
leadership and support to vital causes here
and in Israel.

Now — together with their children —
they've created a $1 million fund to help
other families share life-affirming Jewish
educational experiences.

Soon, the Alfred L. and Bernice Deutsch
Family Synagogue Scholarship Fund will
be helping remove the barriers to
synagogue education for the children of
low-income families.

For their investment in the next
generation, the Deutsches chose the
Jewish Federation/United Jewish
Foundation's Millennium Campaign for
Detroit's Jewish Future.

Why Jewish education? And why this
gift? As Al sees it, learning is basic to
Jewish life. "Besides," he says, "it feels
good to give."
