Steven E. Klein, a former
Detroiter, was recently appointed
director of development for
Handmaker Jewish Services for the
Aging in Tucson, Ariz. Klein was a
teacher at Upton School in Royal
Oak for 25 years and most recently
was director of membership for the
Tucson Metropolitan Chamber of
Commerce.

Professor Robert A. Sedler of
Southfield will hold the Walter
Gibbs chair in
civil rights and
civil liberties at
Wayne State
University Law
School for the
next five years.
Sedler, a well-
known civil
rights advocate
and constitu-
tional scholar,
teaches courses in constitutional law
and conflict of laws.

in Bloomfield Hills.

Kathleen Straus of Detroit was one
of 10 women inducted into the
Michigan Women's Hall of Fame
Oct. 26 at the Novi Hilton. Straus
is a former president of the State
Board of Education, Center for
Creative Studies and State Board
for Public Community and Junior
Colleges. She was also a founding
member of the Detroit Women's
Forum, a coalition of racial, ethnic
and religious diversity, and the first
woman to serve as president of the
Detroit Chapter of the American
Jewish Committee. Straus serves as
president of the Jewish Community
Council of Metropolitan Detroit.
