I feel like I know y'all pretty well already,
because I've written for Style magazine for
several years, and have had the opportuni-
ty to meet many of our readers.
Now that I'm on staff full-time, however, I hope to
be more involved in the community. It's a communi-
ty I've grown to love, though I traveled a long way to
get here. I'm a Louisiana native, a bayou child and
product of a one-synagogue town. Although the
accents and the level of spice in the gumbo are quite
different in these parts, I find the people just as
friendly and gracious as those I left behind.
This issue of Style at the Jewish News features a few
of those people — a fun-loving bunch of tailgate
party hosts, a dedicated jewelry designer and a pas-
sionate collector. These folks opened their homes
and hearts and tailgates to us, welcoming us to share
in their stories.
I have to say, I'm particularly drawn to fashion
assignments, so I felt like I was playing, rather than
working, when covering the Kenneth Cole fashion
show. That "fuzzy-wuzzy" red dress may soon hang
in my closet.
I hope we peaked your interest this month, espe-
cially in the art of holiday entertaining. It's party
time, and your fete may not be as raucous as Mardi
Gras, but I'm sure it'll be memorable.
Looking forward to getting to know you even bet-
ter.
Fondly,
