Klein now shares her letters written during her year-long separation
from her liberator and fiance, Kurt Klein. The Hours After is a testa-
ment that love can bloom even during the aftermath of the
Holocaust, putting a horrible past behind you in order to grasp onto
a brighter future. Mrs. Klein, appointed by President Clinton to the
United States Holocaust Memorial Council, is a renowned interna-
tional speaker on humanitarian causes. The Kleins are the founders
of the Gerda and Kurt Klein Foundation, formed to promote edu-
cation, teach tolerance and lessen prejudice and discrimination.
