Seniors Host
Burke-Kooistra

`Little Pigs'
Go Kosher

Anneke Burke-Kooistra will tell her
story to the Beth Elders of Temple
Beth El at a luncheon noon Tuesday,
Nov. 21, at the temple.
In 1940, Burke-Kooistra's child-
hood changed when the Germans
invaded the Netherlands. Her parents
hid eight Jews in their home. Today,
living in Mayville, Mich., Anneke
speaks about the Holocaust and her
family to groups in schools, churches
and synagogues.
The luncheon is open to the com-
munity at a cost of $10 for members;
$11 for guests. Reservations may be
made prior to Nov. 16 by calling
Doris Kushner, (248) 352-5882, or
Hermina Leib, (248) 354-9569.

The Loren B. Fisher Cultural Arts
Series for Children and Their Families
will begin its 11th season of providing
programs for young people with a
presentation of "The Three Little Pigs
Kosher Style" 12:30 p.m. Sunday,
Nov. 12, at Temple Beth El.
Set to the music of Mozart, the
Toledo Opera on Wheels presentation
features a very smart little pig who
teaches her silly brothers the value of
reading.
The performance, geared to chil-
dren ages 3-10, is the first of three
programs this year, sponsored by
Philip B. and Myrna Fisher. It is open
to the community at no charge. No
reservations are necessary.
