which I believe."
Frumin says his belief in the impor-
tance of government is what drew him
to the legal profession. "I was quite
fortunate in my legal practice to be
able to be active in politics with the
Democratic National Committee as
well as to promote democracy around
the world," he says. He has been an
election observer in Nicaragua,
Mongolia and the Kurdish-controlled
regions in northern Iraq.

I support a

woman's right to choose. I
would like to see abortion safe, legal and
rare, with support of family planning
and educational programs.

Gun Control:
I support law-abiding citizens having
the right to own firearms for hunting,
sport and to protect families and/or
businesses.
I support the sensible gun laws
endorsed by the Million Morn March
proponents and want to see existing laws
enforced and new ones established that
require trigger locks, closed gun show
loopholes, a call for handgun registration
and handgun purchases limited to one a
month. I support the Brady Bill.

Education:
I support lifelong learning, strong
Head Start programs, access to pre-
school for all kids and college opportu-
nities for adults and youth as well as
retraining programs for adults. I sup-
port investing in school modernization,
including Internet wiring, paying
respectable salaries to teachers and low-
ering class sizes.
I oppose the voucher proposal
[Proposal 1], which would undermine
public schools.

Health Care:
I support a strong Patients' Bill of
Rights that will leave medical decisions
to doctors and patients, rather than that
of insurance companies.
I support raising Medicare and
Medicaid reimbursement. I want to see
universal coverage continue, with insur-

cial, legislative and executive branch-
es," he says.
"I am following my dream and pas-
sion. We will see where it takes me
and my family," he says, referring to
his wife and children Alice, 11; Jophie,
8; and Zoe, 4.
"However, it turns out, I will be
proud of the job I have done, the way
I have gone about it, and the choice I
have presented the voters in the 11th
District. It is my hope that good
things come when you stand up for
what you believe and push yourself to
accomplish the most that you can."

ing every child in America a first priori-
ty. I highly support prescription-drug
coverage for seniors.

Budget and Taxes:
I support continuous prosperity by
maintaining fiscal discipline, paying
down the debt and keeping interest
rates down.

Social Security/Medicare:
I want to keep Social Security and
Medicare solid, strengthening them fur-
ther and add a prescription-drug benefit
to Medicare. I'm against privatization of
116 of Social Security, fearing seniors
could lose if the [stock] market goes
down. Instead, I want to add incentives
for workers to invest for retirement.

Joe Enallenberg

In lieu of addressing each issue, Rep. Joe
Knollenberg has stated he is running for
Congress to continue his primary goals
of cutting taxes, reducing wasteful gov-
ernment spending and reducing excess
federal regulations.
He additionally offered an updated
statement on the situation in Jerusalem
and the Middle East peace process.
Knollenberg said:
"We must renew our efforts to restore
calm in the Middle East. This region
remains critical to U.S. interests. We
must remain committed to pressing for
a long-lasting peace.
"The closer we come to a final peace
agreement, the higher the stakes become
for the Israelis and the Palestinians. If
they are unable to reach an agreement,
unfortunately, some will see this as an
opportunity for violence. However, we
must remember that a majority of
Palestinians, Israelis and Americans all
remain committed to permanently end-
ing this violence. We must continue to
actively pursue a final peace agreement.
"I am hopeful both leaders will con-
demn the use of violence and remain
committed to the peace process. The
violence must stop in order for the par-
ties to re-engage in that process."
