According to Marlene Post, chair of
Birthright Israel North America, the
number of people who applied for the
winter trip has doubled. This year,
Birthright Israel expanded the number
of trips, December through February.
The program is a partnership
between the people of Israel through
their government, United Jewish

Jewish federations across North
America, Keren Hayesod, the Jewish
Agency for Israel and several philan-
thropic partners.

Jewish Leaders
Fly To Israel

New York/JTA — A solidarity mission
of several dozen Jewish federation and
organizational leaders was scheduled to
travel to Israel.
The two-day mission, organized by
the United Jewish Communities and
co-sponsored by the Conference of
Presidents of Major American Jewish
Organizations, is slated to include
meetings with Israeli Jewish and Arab
leaders. Meanwhile, Hadassah: the
Women's Zionist Organization of
America, plans to send its own mission.

Stress Hotlines
Are Launched

Jerusalem/JTA — Counselors in Israel
are launching new programs for mem-
bers of Jewish communities in the
West Bank and Gaza Strip who have
been exhibiting heightened levels of
stress during the recent violence,
which has lasted for three weeks.
In addition, hotlines to help parents
deal with children's fears have been set
up in the West Bank and Gaza, as well
as in Jerusalem.
