honoring

Young Adults
Set Phonathon

The Young Adult Division of the
Jewish Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit will help Federation kick off
Annual Campaign 2001 on Super
Sunday with "Comedy, Calls and
Community," a phonathon, from 5:30-
9 p.m. Oct. 29 at the Max M. Fisher
Federation Building in Bloomfield
Township.
Singles and couples ages 21-35 are
invited to have dinner and a few laughs
in a fun, relaxed atmosphere as they
help make a few telephone calls to
secure gifts to Campaign. Comedian
Ben Konstantin will get the evening
started.
YAD is a volunteer, charitable, social
and educational organization open to
Jewish young adults ages 21-35 in the
tri-county area.
The Campaign raises funds to sup-
port local agencies that care for the vul-
nerable and revitalize Jewish life. Every
gift increase over last year — and every
new gift — will be doubled in value by
the Schostak Family Challenge Fund.
Robin Trepeck and Howard Collens
are chairing "Comedy, Calls and
Community." For information or to
volunteer for the phonathon, call Josh
Cohen at Federation, (248) 203-1471

Seniors Hone
Driving Skills

The Jewish Community Center's
Jimmy Prentis Morris Building in Oak
Park, in collaboration with AARP, will
offer 55 Alive/Mature Driving Program
12:30-4:30 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31, and
Wednesday, Nov. 1.
This refresher course is designed to
help improve the driving skills of older
adults and prevent traffic accidents; no
actual driving is involved. There are
two sessions and students must attend
both to receive a certificate. There is a
$10 fee to take the course. Reservations
may be made at the JPM reception
desk.
In addition, Oakland County
Health Division will hold a flu immu-
nization clinic at the JPM from 1-3
p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 31. Participants
should bring their Medicare and/or
Medicaid cards and a picture ID with a
current address. There will be a $3
charge for those without a Medicare
and/or Medicaid card.
For information on either program,
call Sharon Gaspas Goldenberg, (248)
967-4030.
