Rabbi Addresses
Detroit Council

An Oak Park rabbi delivered a pre-
Rosh Hashanah prayer before the
Detroit City
Council on Sept.
27.
Rabbi Chaim
Moshe Bergstein
of Bais
Menachem
Academy
reminded those
gathered that the
holiday, begin-
ning at sun-
Rabbi Bergstein
down Sept. 29,
marks "not the
creation of the world, but the cre-
ation of the first human being,
Adam and Eve, created together as

one."
He added, "The individual is obli-
gated to say that 'the whole world
was created for me'; therefore,
depends upon my actions."
He challenged the council to
"strive constantly to find favor in
your eyes to bring merit and success
for this city of over 1 million of your
children. May all your children fol-
low in their example and be blessed
therewith, with health, prosperity,
and good, learned and successful
children."
