calling on the International Red Cross
to reject Israel's request that it adopt
the Star of David as one of its official
emblems.
Israel's humanitarian relief move-
ment, Magen David Adom, uses a red
star of David and has been barred
from the Red Cross movement, which
currently only recognizes the cross and
crescent symbols. Several compromise
proposals that would add the Star of
David as a Red Cross symbol have
fallen through.
