child of Holocaust survivors, was a
particular favorite of the 550 patrons
in the audience.
"While there are references to
pain, this piece is about the joy" of
Eastern European Jewish life before
the war," Dorfman said.
Dr. Lynda Giles added: "We are
delighted to be among the sponsors
tonight because the [Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan Detroit's]
Alliance for Jewish Education believes
that cultural arts are integral to
strengthening Jewish identity." Giles
is Alliance co-chair with Robert
Naftaly.

Sturman, the couple spoke candidly
about their marriage, working partner-
ship and how they dealt with
Eikenberry's breast cancer and recovery.

and-answer session with the audience.
