He is the son of
Margaret and Leonid
Basin and brother of
Ronald. Proud grand-
parents are Nella and
Albert Khenkin and
Anna Basina. Happy
great-grandmother is
Estir Veribevchik. He is also the grand-
child of the late Grigory Basin.
A student at Warner Middle School
in Farmington Hills, Gary's has hobbies
which include computers, skateboarding
and math. He particularly enjoyed vol-
unteering in the Temple Israel Media
Center as one of his mitzvah projects.

Shaina Rachel Kandel will celebrate her
bat mitzvah at Temple Israel on Friday,
Oct. 6. She is the
daughter of Cindy and
H. Mark Kandel and
sister of Alexis. Happy
grandparents are
Beverly and Fred
Kandel; she is also the
grandchild of the late
Janet and Felix
Rosenberger.
Attending Abbott Middle School in
West Bloomfield, Shaina is interested in
dancing and music. Her most meaning-
ful mitzvah project was participating in
the parties held at homeless shelters.

Jacob Jonathan Lewkow will become a
bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Oct. 7, at
Temple Israel. He is the
son of Gayle and Elliot
Lewkow and brother of
Noah and Sarah.
Happy grandparents are
Margaret and Jack
Jonikian, Sarkis
Halebian and Hermine and William
Lewkow.
Jacob's favorite mitzvah project
involved assisting at Temple Israel's
Labor Day picnic. He also found it
meaningful to volunteer at the summer
benefit for Ben and Jeremy Michalson,
recently orphaned brothers; and he
donated to the Courtney Cantor Fund
at Temple Israel. A student at Abbott
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
Jacob enjoys computers (especially
AOL), snowboarding and riding a go-
ped.

Jordan Samuel Solomon

will become a

bar mitzvah on Friday, Oct. 6, at

Temple Israel. He is the
son of Jill and Dr.
Mitchell Solomon and

brother of Rachel.
Excited grandparents
are Priscilla and Milton
Solomon and Muriel
Rothenberg. He is also
the grandchild of the late Hanley
Rothenberg.
Jordan's mitzvah projects included
performing for seniors at the Fleischman
Residence, volunteering in the Temple
Israel Media Center and contributing to
the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. An
honor student at Walled Lake Middle
school, Jordan enjoys acting, singing,
dance and playing the trumpet. He
holds a black belt in karate.

Logan Lemberger was called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah
on Sept. 2 at Temple
Shiarei Am in Santa
Monica, Calif He is
the son of Nance
Rosen Lemberger and
the late Lester
Lemberger and brother
of Cameron (Jake) and
Thea Rose. Very proud grandparents are
Lou and Sylvia Lemberger of Los
Angeles and Al and Shirlee Rosen of
Farmington Hills.
Logan is an honor student at Lincoln
Middle School. He enjoys music, com-
puters, soccer, baseball, basketball, surf-
ing and skateboarding. His mitzvah pro-
ject was working at a homeless shelter.

Matthew Joseph Skulsky will be called
to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on
Saturday, Oct. 7, at
Temple Ohev Sholom
in Harrisburg, Pa. He is
the son of Linda and
Alan Skulsky and the
brother of Michael.
Proud grandparents are
Marilynn and Edward
Skulsky of West
Bloomfield and Laura Silver of New
Jersey. Matthew is also the grandson of
.the late Joseph Silver.
Matthew is a seventh-grade distin-
guished honor student at Susquehanna
Township Middle School. He enjoys
baseball, basketball and swimming. This
year, Matt played on the township's all-
star baseball team and the JCC Junior
Maccabi basketball team. He was a
member of two swim teams and partici-
pated in the Junior Olympics and the
Mid-Cap Swimming Championships.
