1-1C)NOFING.

The gr, ovving body of senior citizens
has transportation needs that social-
service agencies have not been able
to meet, especially in O akland
County where public transporta-
tion is not readily available. What
would you do as a state representa-
tive to solve this situation?

Raczkowski: As the state representa-
tive from the Farmington area, I
have voted to ensure greater regional
cooperation among transportation
providers. Through the coordina-
tion of schedules and expansion of
existing routes, a greater number of
individuals could receive transporta-
tion service. In addition, I have sup-
ported increasing appropriations for
local agencies -so they could provide
and/or expand existing service.
Mother alternative is providing
incentives to charitable organiza-
tions that assist in providing social
services to those in need. This
approach would be beneficial to
those community-based organiza-
tions that operate and assist those in
a particular area

Michigan allows an income tax credit for individuals equal to 50% of the amount of cash contributions
(subject to certain limitations) to organizations such as Yad Ezra that provide food or shelter to the indigent.

The fair market value of the dinner for tax purposes is $33.00 per person.

Vagnozzi; I was a leader in the fight

to pass the SMART transportation
millage in our city. As a result, we
established, when I was mayor, a
system of using SMART buses to
transport our residents to doctors'
offices, hospitals and grocery stores.
I would restore full funding to the
SMART system, which has been
reduced in recent years. I would also
seek more money from the federal
government.
