F

airytales do come true. Just ask newlyweds Amy Ross
and Leon Gavartin. Their June 17 wedding at the
Detroit Opera House was as dramatic and beautiful
as The Marriage of Figaro.
The couple met at a Halloween party in Pontiac. Both were
reluctant to attend but went with friends. Before the clock
struck midnight, their eyes locked on the dance floor.
The couple even documented their "fairytale" in a program
booklet for their guests, titled "When Dreams Come True."
"Once upon a time in a faraway land called Latvia, a King
and Queen gave birth to a gorgeous Prince Leon...in the dis-
tant land called America, a King and Queen gave birth to a
beautiful Princess named Amy," began the story.
The narrative included a list of cast members from the cler-
gy to the bridal party. Special thanks were noted to the broth-
ers, sisters, friends and the parents who allowed the couple to
have the wedding of their dreams. Of course, the fairytale
story ends with the couple living happily ever after.
"I've always been very theatrical," said the bride who now
lives in Buffalo Grove, Ill. with her husband. The couple took
ballroom dance lessons before the wedding. After they were
introduced as man and wife, they danced the fox trot to "It
had to be You." During the toasts, the bride sang "I've
Dreamed of You," to her husband. "It was a real tearjerker,"
said the bride. "We felt as if we were at Cinderella's ball."
The wedding of Amy Ross and Leon Gavartin was a mas-
terpiece. Bravo!
