Food Going
To Yad Ezra

Volunteers will gather Wednesday,
Oct. 11, at Yad Ezra, Michigan's
only kosher food pantry, to sort
through an expected 30,000 pounds
of food donations.
Members of 21 synagogues, tem-
ples and other Jewish organizations
from the metro Detroit area take
part in an annual food drive for Yad
Ezra as part of the community's
annual observance of the Yom
Kippur holiday.
For information on the food
drive, call the Yad Ezra office in Oak
Park, (248) 548-3663.

JFS Offers
Home Care

Jewish Family Service offers home
care services for homebound older
adults, including homemaking, in-
home respite care and personal care.
All services are offered on a sliding
scale, based on ability to pay. Some
services are grant-subsidized.
The homemaking service enables
clients to achieve and maintain a
clean, safe and healthy environment.
Services include laundry, light
housekeeping, shopping, errands and
meal preparation.
In-home respite care provides
companionship, supervision and/or
assistance with daily living for men-
tally and/or physically disabled per-
sons and the frail elderly in order to
relieve the round-the-clock responsi-
bilities of the primary caregiver.
Personal care is essential to assist
aged, blind, disabled and other func-
tionally limited individuals with
necessary daily activities that cannot
be performed without assistance.
Services may include eating/feeding,
bathing, grooming, dressing and
transporting, as well as laundry,
meal preparation and medication
reminders.
The Jewish Family Residential
Care Department has a goal of help-
ing older adults to maintain their
dignity and live in their own homes
as long as possible. The JFS
Residential Care program is part of
the Elderlink network of services,
provided by member agencies of the
Commission On Jewish Eldercare
Services.
For information, contact Risa
Berris in Southfield, (248) 559-
1500.
