His mother said, "At the assembly,
it was wonderful to see my son partic-
ipating in a project that helped oth-
ers.
After the assembly, each student
chose two books to take home. The
remaining books are used in class-
rooms and in the library.
"Many of the kids came up to me
to shake my hand and thank me,"
Josh said. "I felt very good that this
project made an impact on the kids. I

served the synagogue for 11 years.
Josh Rollins, son of Julie and
David Rollins of Farmington, orga-
nized the drive on behalf of the stu-
dents at Detroit's B. Benedict Glazer
Elementary School, named for the
rabbi who served Beth El from 1941
to 1952.
The 500-student
school is in the cen-

bers tutor the stu-
dents and also host
