HAPPY NEW YEAR!

This is a season of reflection, renewal and prepa-
ration for the choices we will face in the coming year.
The selection of Joseph Lieberman as the Democratic
Vice Presidential nominee presents all the members
of our community, whether they intend to vote for
the Democrat or Republican ticket, with an exciting
choice. I believe my candidacy for U.S. Congress in
the 11th District also presents a compelling choice.

As your Congressman,

I will work to:

• Pay off the federal debt while protecting and
strengthening Social Security and Medicare

• Pass a real Patient's Bill of Rights that will put medical
decisions back in the hands of doctors and patients

• Secure access to voluntary, affordable prescription drug
coverage for all of our seniors through Medicare

The incumbent, Joe Knoilenberg, has:

• Voted against the Patient's Bill of Rights and the Family
and Medical Leave Act

• Voted against the Brady Bill and the Assault Weapons Ban

• Voted for school prayer and vouchers and for billions in
cuts to education

• Has supported every piece of legislation designed to
attack a woman's right to choose

• Received a Dishonorable Mention from Republicans for
Environmental Protection making him one of their nine
lowest rated Members of Congress, as well as a 0%
rating from the . League of Conservation Voters

• Voted against the campaign finance reform proposal
advocated by Senator John McCain

• Increase support for public education — for "lifetime
learning" from pre-school through worker retraining

• Implement modest, targeted tax cuts to support
healthcare, education and the environment

• Push through the gun safety platform of the "Million
Mom March" to protect our children

• Keep our air and water clean and preserve open
public spaces

• Protect a woman's right to choose and maintain the
separation between church and state

• Enact meaningful campaign finance reform

The incumbent does deserve credit for one
thing, he has been a good friend to Israel. I too
will, of course, be a solid friend to Israel. My
family has been committed to Israel for genera-
tions. I will also, however, represent your values
on a host of other issues that are important to
our community.

I hope I can win your vote on November 7th and
your help on the road to the election!
