• Raymond Holland,
incumbent Republican —
Holland, 69, is West
Bloomfield's longest-serv-
ing trustee, first elected in
1968. Retired after 37
years in human resources
and industrial-relations positions, he now
is an equestrian and softball coach, mar-
ried with one daughter.
Holland pointed out that West
Bloomfield actually is about 90 per-
cent built up, with only wetland areas
left to develop, posing environmental
problems.
"Development really isn't much of
an issue because there's not much left
to do," he said. "We need to encour-
age business owners to make renova-
tions and improvements to existing
businesses, so that the new building
permits will increase our revenues."

• Debbie Macon,
incumbent Republican —
Macon, 53, is seeking her
second term as trustee,
having lived in the town-
ship for 16 years. She is
married with one son.
With an MBA from Rutgers University,
she works for Trustee Leadership
Development in Indiana, specializing in
training and facilitating.
Macon said she has a "strong commit-
ment to long-term planning to determine
and analyze the future needs and issues of
West Bloomfield." She agrees with
Holland that there is not much more
room to expand in the township. "We're
almost at build-out with only some prop-
erty left that is difficult to develop because
of wetlands," she said. "We've done every-
thing in accordance with the master plan
and consistent with ordinances, and made
sure the developers conformed with the
laws. Our budget supports public safety to
an extraordinary degree."

• Stuart Brickner,
incumbent Democrat —
Brickner, 57, a West
Bloomfield resident for 23
years, is running for a sec-
ond term as trustee. He is
a financial adviser/attor-
ney in Farmington Hills. He has partic-
ipated in many community activities
and is an 11th Congressional District
representative to the State Central
Committee of the Michigan
Democratic Party. He and his wife,
Maxine, have two children and belong
to Temple Israel.
Brickner said the biggest issues con-
fronting the township relate to rapid
development. "I will continue to work
