Master bath: Barbi Krass' luxurious hideaway is

her expansive master bath, complete with oval

whirlpool tub, Crema Europa limestone counter-

tops and Italian bone-glass light fixtures. The

backsplash is accented with a hand-carved rose

motif tile. Glass artist Ken Pellar carved the circle-

top window to match the accent tile.

Great room: "This is where we hang out," says

Krass. The TV cabinet is a custom-made maple

armoire. It anchors a tufted black leather cocktail

ottoman, taupe chenille chairs, a tweed chenille

sofa and a little faux-leopard upholstered chair

that belonged to Krass' mother-in-law. Silk

draperies add elegance, while collectible Sid

Dickens memory-block tiles above the mantel lend

a touch of whimsy.

Licked inside her
interior design
studio in
Farmington Hills,
Barbi Krass conceived an
exclusive little accessory bou-
tique called Colorworks
Uncommon. Filled with
candlesticks and candles,
antique silver pieces, unusual
lamps and pillows, dried
flower arrangements, Adler
stoneware and a variety of
other eclectic home decor
items, the shop functions as a
laboratory of ideas for Krass'
clients. It's also a great place
to find a gift or a special item
to fill a nook or cranny in need
of some decorative attention.
Krass has provided her
expertise to area homeowners
for the past 22 years through
her full-service interior design
studio, Colorworks.
Her own West Bloomfield
home, designed by architect
Dominick Tringali and built
by Steve Perlman, beautifully
illustrates Krass' interior
design aesthetic and her strict
attention to detail.

Dining room: The 72-inch round dining table

features an African sapele wood top with a

reverse diamond pattern. Mahogany chairs,

upholstered in a chenille floral, cozy up to the iron-

based table. A hand-painted demilune buffet is

accented by an original Nixon painting, and cop-

per and glass sconces. The oblong mirror and

crystal stemware belonged to Krass' great-

grandmother, and the square, scalloped dinner-

Kitchen: Oak floors, with a custom-stained

rosewood and cherry finish, complement maple

cabinets in the kitchen. The furniture-inspired

island is topped with Antico granite, and

accommodates two Italian leather chairs with fab-

ric backs. Italian pendant fixtures illuminate the

island. Krass designed the mosaic tile

backsplash over the cooktop.
