One Childhood. 200 Animals. Countless Smiles. Lennon Legacy I n his memorable lyrics from "In My Life," John Lennon expresses his affection for lovers and friends who crossed his path. Years after his death in 1980, we enjoy an ongoing love affair \ vith the artistic genius whose music, poetry, drawings and insights helped shape a generation. Lennon would have been 60 years old on Oct. 9. To celebrate, cities throughout the world will be host- ing an exhibit of his artwork. "People love John's art when they see it," says the event's executive producer Larry Schwartz, a for- mer Oak Park resident and 1969 Berkley High School graduate. "The show is more than just an art exhibit," says Schwartz, "because it appeals to such a broad audience. Many of these people are not art collec- tors or patrons, but rather everyday people who lived through the '60s and '70s and have a very strong attach- ment to the events that took place during those years. "We are very excited about 'Real Love.' The art depicts John's private side about which very little has been written. He used his art to express his innermost feelings about love, and his devotion to family." The Royal Oak show also will include other original drawings, some very rare, including the controversial erotic works seized in 1970 from the original "Bag- One" suite signed by John. In addition, rare estate pieces signed by Yoko, rare photos and song lyric man- uscripts by John will be available for purchase. - FOR TICKETS CALL: INFORMATION: (248) 645-6666 (313) 983 6606 ticketrnaster outlets (313) 471-3099 - GROUP RATES: WEEKDAY TICKET PRICE: $10.00 WEEKEND TICKET PRICE: $15.00 (Limited VIP seats available) (Service charges and handling fees may apply) SPOSIINS — Linda Bachrack "In My Life: The Artwork of John Lennon" visits Stagecrafters Baldwin Theater, 415 Lafayette Ave., in downtown Royal Oak, 5-9 p.m. Friday, 10 a.m.-8 p.m. Saturday and 11 a.m.-6 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 6-8.
