Special to the Jewish News

f you've only lived in Michigan,

or even the United States, you'd

think everyone broke the Yom

Kippur fast in the same way, with

a milchig meal, replete with bagels,

smoked fish and eggy-things.

While other parts of the country may

have different customs — like eating poul-

try or cholent-type foods to end the period

of abstinence — people here would be

downright shocked if the foods they

expected weren't waiting for them when

they returned from shul.
