Andrew M. Cuomo

Andrew Cuomo was unanimously confirmed by the US Senate and sworn into

office as Secretary of Housing and Urban Development on January 29, 1997.

Before entering federal service, Cuomo was the youngest Commission Chairman

in the history of New York City, named in 1991 to lead the New York City

Commission on Homeless. He has received many awards including the Ford

Foundation/Kennedy School Innovations in Government Award, the American

Institute of Architects Pioneer Housing Award, the New York University

Distinguished Community Service Award, the Fannie Mae Foundation Award of

Excellence and the American Red Cross Good Neighbor Award.
