Joshua Bennett Rubin celebrated
his bar mitzvah on Friday, Sept. 15,
at Temple Kol Ami. He is the son
of Gail Bennett and
Richard Rubin of
Farmington Hills,
brother of Michelle
Rubin, grandson of
Marilyn Ricci and
Robert Bennett of
Florida, and Max
Rubin of West
Bloomfield. Joshua
is also the grandson
of the late Alene Silverstein Rubin.
Joshua is an honor student at
Warner Middle School in
Farmington Hills and plays saxo-
phone in the school band. His
mitzvah project included working at
the Temple Kol Ami religious
school as a maa'rich; he helped teach
the second and third grades. He
also volunteered at Yad Ezra.
Joshua's hobbies include playing
the guitar and piano, skateboarding
and in-line hockey. He loves to
travel, having visited family and
friends in Florida, Hawaii,
Massachusetts, South Carolina,
Washington, D.C. and Washington
state and Toronto, Canada.

Amanda Beth Zwiren of Milwaukee
Jewish Day School will become bat
mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 23, at
Temple Kol Ami. Joining Amanda
on the bima will be
her proud parents,
Suzanne and Mark,
her brother Kyle,
her grandparents
Sheila and Arthur
Schussler and aunts,
uncles and cousins.
Amanda is also the
granddaughter of
the late Molly and
Jack Zwiren.
Amanda is an honor roll student
at Berkshire Middle School in
Birmingham. In addition to joining
her Grandpa Artie doing volunteer
work at Yad Ezra, ,kmanda spent
several days working with children
that have special needs at Wing
Lake School in Bloomfield Hills.
Amanda enjoys dancing, music
and going to Camp Tamarack.

Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Josh Finkle was called to the Torah
as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Sept.
16, at Congregation Beth Judea in
Long Grove, Ill.
Josh celebrated
this special day
with his proud par-
ents, former
Southfield resident
Davida
(Markowitz) and
Scott Finkle; his
sisters, Jamie and
Abby; his grand-
parents, Faith and Morrie Finkle of
Buffalo Grove, as well as aunts,
uncles, cousins and friends. They
gathered from Detroit, Chicago,
Baltimore, Minneapolis, Cincinnati,
and Boca Raton and Clearwater,
Fla. Josh dedicated his service to the
memory of his late grandparents,
Harry and Shirley Markowitz.
Josh is an eighth-grade honor
student at Twin Groves Middle
School in Buffalo Grove, Ill., where
he plays violin in the orchestra. He
also participates in cross-country
and the school science fair.
He enjoys playing piano, spending
his summers at Camp Chi, volunteer-
ing for Buddy Baseball, playing video
games, reading, computers and
spending time with family and
friends.

Aaron Ben Schultz of Los Angeles
observed his bar mitzvah on Sept. 2
at Congregation B'nai David in Los
Angeles. Aaron
chanted the entire
Torah portion and
then conducted the
Musaf service.
Aaron's proud
parents are former
Oak Parker Debbie
(Papo) and David
Schultz of Los
Angeles. His ecstatic grandparents
are Barbara and Sander Papo of
West Bloomfield and Hadassah
Schultz of Brooklyn, N.Y. His
thrilled great-grandmother is Mary
Papo of Oak Park. Aaron also is the
grandson of the late Philip Schultz.
Aaron attends the Harkham
Hillel Hebrew Academy of Beverly
Hills, Calif. He is an honor student
and excels in his Hebrew studies
and mathematics. Aaron's hobbies
are in-line hockey, basketball, com-
puters and playing the clarinet.
