Eligible: Grades 9-12 residents of Metropolitan Detroit

Essays must be written on the following topics only:

• Dissent in a democratic society

• The Middle East peace process

• Israel: Whose land is it?

Essay may be no more than 750 words in length. It must be typed (double-spaced
with margins) and submitted together with a 3'/2" floppy disk containing the file.

Gale-Wertheimer

Diane Lynn Wertheimer and Bruce
Lawrence Gale were recently married at
Congregation Beth Shalom in Oak
Park. Rabbi David Nelson and Cantor
Samuel Greenbaum officiated along
with Rabbi Jeffrey Gale of Long Island,
N.Y., the brother of the groom.
Diane is the daughter of May and
Jack Bodzin of Oak Park and the late
Samuel Shreeman of Detroit. Bruce is
the son of Rosalie and Allan Gale of St.
Louis, Mo.
Maureen Shreeman, sister-in-law of

the bride, was matron of honor.
Bridesmaids were Jenny and Jamie
Gale, the couple's daughters.
Best man was Allan Gale, father of
the groom. Groomsmen were Jason and
Aaron Wertheimer, the couple's sons.
Carrying the chuppa were Eric, Marc
and Michael Shreeman, the bride's
brothers, along with Rabbi Gayle.
After a brief trip to Mackinac
Island, the couple, along with their
children, plan to visit Israel in
November.

Alan Weingarden were married
recently at the Somerset Inn in Troy.
Rabbi Dannel Schwartz of Temple
Shir Shalom and Cantor Lori
Corrsin of Temple Israel officiated.
Susan is the daughter of Gerald
and Ellen Kaplan of West
Bloomfield. Michael is the son of
Marvin and Shirley Weingarden of
Southfield.
Debra Snyder, lifelong friend of

the bride, was the matron of honor.
Bridesmaids included Megan Kaplan,
Sheryl Katzen, Andrea Spillett and
Ahunna Nwosu.
The best man was Steven
Weingarden, brother of the groom.
Groomsmen included Steven Kaplan,
Howard Weingarden, Rick Tabor and
Marry Rosen.
Following a honeymoon in
Nantucket and Boston, the couple
reside in Farmington Hills.
