1 4th annual "Apples & Honey and
Lots, Lots More."
The free event will be held from
1:30-4:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 24,
at the Jewish Community Center's
Jimmy Prentis Morris Building, 15110
W. 10 Mile Road, in Oak Park.
"Apples & Honey and Lots, Lots
More" is co-sponsored by Jewish
Experiences For Families, the Jewish
News and the ACC.
All of your favorite events will be
there again, including the Apple
Moon Walk, where enthusiastic
jumpers can bounce away; plenty of
arts and crafts; and the shofar-making
factory. (Note: the factory is only for
people age 8 and older; the charge
is $10. Registration is required. To
make your reservation no later than
Wednesday Sept. 20, call Debbie

But get ready, this year, for a lot o
new excitement, too. Like that
giraffe. The festival on Sept. 24

includes a drive to help the Jewish
community "adopt" a giraffe at the
Detroit Zoo. All you have to do is
bring your extra change to be part
of this tzedaka project.
The 2000 Apples & Honey will
emphasize the concept of becoming
a mitzvah hero. You'll have the
chance to hear from those who
have made a real difference in the
community, and learn how you can
do the same. Each guest will
receive a family mitzvah scrapbook
in which to chart his or her progress
in the coming year.
Also new, the "Magical Mystery
Tour" invites participants to become
detectives as they master clues on a
thrilling scavenger hunt on the JCC's
biblical playground.
And whatever you do, don't forget
to bring your sweet tooth. You'll be
able to find a delicious array of
kosher Good Humor ice cream treats
for sale. ❑
