My husband [Gregory Gallick] was training as an orthopedic surgeon at the time, and our compromise was to live in New Jersey, which was a very fertile profes- sional ground for me and gave me a chance to grow as an artist." Joel Dorfman, of Bloomfield Hills, who manages his family's invest- ments, also is a trustee for his sister's company and has been devoted to her dance interests since she was a young student preparing for recitals. "I'm very proud of Carolyn's pro- gression," Joel Dorfman says. I know my interest in dance would be much less developed if it weren't for her. "I think she does good work in making young peo- ple better, and I hope dance professionals who see her performances here will be motivated to emulate what she's doing in New Jersey" Dorfman's troupe last appeared in Detroit in 1991, when they performed "Cries of the Children," the
