John and Adele grew up in Marquette and
attended the same high school. John was

John and Adele began dating when she
was 16 and he was 18; they were married
six years later. Rabbi William Rudolph of the
Ann Arbor Hillel Foundation performed the
couple's wedding ceremony in Marquette.

"Before moving here we lived in Chicago,
where we had belonged to the Jewish
Reconstructionist Congregation in Evanston,
Adele says. "We liked it because it was a
very heimish [warm, welcoming] place.
Everyone could do a d'var Torah, and we
had member-led services.
