He is the son of Lisa and Joseph Konheim and brother of Ari and Erin. Jeremy's proud grandmothers are Esther Kurtz and Lillian Konheim. He is also the grandson of the late Isaac Kurtz and the late Dr. Louis Konheim. An honor student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield, Jeremy enjoys playing ice hockey, in-line hockey and football. As part of his mitz- vah project, he found it particularly meaningful to volunteer for the Jewish Association for Residential Care and the Danto Health Care Center. Dimitry Malashetsky will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Friday, Sept. 8, at Temple Israel. He is the son of Rimma and Alexander Malashetsky and brother of Elizabeth. He is also the grandchild of the late Maya Rybak His most meaningful mitzvah project involved volunteering for the American Cancer Society. A student at Walnut Creek Middle School in West Bloomfield, Dimitry enjoys sports, par- ticularly tennis and hockey. Gabby Saltsman (Chaya Shoshana) of West Bloomfield will become a bat mitzvah at Temple Shir Shalom on Friday, Sept. 8. Participating in the cere- mony will be her par- ents, Cookie and Sandy, and sisters and brother-in-law, Jenna, Kylee and Jamie Grossman, and Coryn Saltsman and fiance Jay Briggs. Gabby is the granddaughter of the late Lillian and Jack Kaftan and the late Harry and Sadelle Saltsman. Gabby is a student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield. She is active in sports and dance. Gabby's mitzvah projects included Yad Ezra, Jewish Community Center youth pro- gram and the youth program at Temple Shir Shalom. David Samuel Shiener will be called to the Torah as a bar mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 9, at Congregation Shaarey Zedek. David is the son of Karen and Gerald Shiener and the broth- er of Loren Shiener. He is the grandson of Estelle Rosen, the late Gerald Rosen and the late Yetta and Phillip Shiener. David is an eighth-grade student at Orchard Lake Middle School in West Bloomfield and the captain of his hock- ey team. He also enjoys scuba diving, bike riding and chatting online with his friends. David participated in activities with the Jewish Association for Residential Care as parr of his mitzvah project. Irene Shulman will become a bat mia- \rah- at Temple Israel on Friday, Sept. 8. She is the daughter of Yelena and Igor Shulman and sister of Alex. Excited grandparents are Ida and Isak Shulman and Roman Rybak. She is also the grandchild of the late Maya Rybak. An honor student at Walnut Creek Middle School in West Bloomfield, Irene enjoys running, horseback riding, swimming and movies. Among her mitzvah projects, she assisted in the Temple Israel Media Center and volunteered for the American Cancer Society. Jeff Taxe will celebrate his bar mitzvah at Temple Kol Ami on Friday, Sept. 8. He is the son of Howard and Patti Taxe and brother of Emily. Proud grandpar- ents are Doris Taxe and Jason Seale. He is also.the grandson of the late George Taxe and the late Esther Seale. Jeff is an honor stu- dent at Bloomfield Hills Middle School, where he is involved in drama and a member of the tennis, basket- ball and forensics teams. When he is not at school, he can be found playing travel soccer. Jeff enjoyed his mitzvah projects. They included packing, serving and delivering food to families for Yad Ezra, volunteering at Hospice of Michigan and participating at a soccer camp in Troy.
