Bar/Bat Mitzvah

LeeAnn. Margaret Acker will be called
to the Torah as a bat mitzvah on
Saturday, Sept. 9, at
Adat Shalom
Synagogue. LeeAnn is
the daughter of
Barbara and Dr.
Steven Acker and the
younger sister of Jared
and Evan. Proud
grandparents are Marilyn and Edwin
(Lenny) Acker and Margaret
Greenough. She is also the granddaugh-
ter of the late James Greenough.
An honor student at Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills, LeeAnn loves playing
the piano, participating in volleyball and
track and being with her friends. She
adores horses and visits the Black River
Farm and Ranch each summer. In the
future, she hopes to become a veterinari-
an.
LeeAnn volunteered at a Jewish
Association for Residential Care home
as part of her mitzvah project.

An honor roll stu-
dent at Warner Middle School in
Farmington Hills, Jessica enjoys danc-
ing, tubing, water skiing, kayaking, in-
line skating, the computer and reading.
She found it particularly meaningful to
volunteer at Yad Ezra as part of her
mitzvah projects.

Stacie Morgan Bell will become a bat
mitzvah at Havelala services on Saturday,
Sept. 9, at Temple Israel. She is the
daughter of Marcy and
Michael Bell and sister
of Scott and Steven.
Proud are grandparents
Judy and Carl Bell and
Gordon Rivard and
great-grandmother
Yolande Gannon.
Stacie is also the grand-
daughter of the late Shirley Silber Rivard
and Morris Silber.
Mitzvah projects included donating
to the American Cancer Society and
babysirting at Temple Israel during ser-
vices. An honor student at South Lyon

Middle School, Stacie dances competi-
tively and enjoys pompom and volley-
ball.

Michael Eric Blair was called to the
Torah as a bar mitzvah at Temple Kol
Ami on Saturday, Aug. 19. Michael is
the son of Julie and
Sheldon Blair and
brother of Stephanie.
Very proud grandpar-
ents are Helen and
Edward Sherman of
Southfield, Beatrice
and Jack Lovinger of
Tucson, Ariz., and
Albert Blair of Farmington Hills. He is
also the grandson of the late Berry Blair.
Michael attends Orchard Lake
Middle School in West Bloomfield,
where his favorite subject is computers.
He enjoys video games, baseball, in-line
skating, swimming and playing cards.
Michael is also a member of BBYO
Teen Connection.
Michael's mitzvah projects included
volunteering at the West Bloomfield
High School Lakers Invitational, partici-
pating in craft projects for Temple Kol
Ami's Mitzvah Day and being a madrich
(teacher's aide) at his temple's religious
school.

Emma Rachel Darvick will become a
bat mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 9, ar
Temple Beth El. She is the daughter of
Debra and Martin
Darvick, granddaugh-
ter of Lynn and
Richard Berkowitz and
Dorothea Bourke and
the great-granddaugh-
ter of Estelle
Berkowitz.
Emma is an eighth-
grade honor roll student at Hillel Day
School of Metropolitan Detroit in
Farmington Hills, where she has partici-
pated on the cross-country team for two
seasons. An avid reader, she enjoys her
many friendships, going to camp and
reading to her buddies at a Jewish
Association for Residential Care home
in Huntington Woods.

Samuel Frederick Gilbert will become a
bar mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 9, at
Temple Israel. He is the son of Ilene and
Steven Gilbert and brother of Jessica.

Litt and great-grand-
mother Rose Borman.
He is also the grand-
