hit overdrive
in Michigan
during the
holiday weekend as Sen.
Joseph Lieberman, the
Democratic Parry's vice-
presidential nominee,
spoke to the union faith-
ful following the annual
Labor Day Parade up
Woodward Avenue in
Detroit. Meanwhile,
Texas Gov. George W.
Bush, the Republican
Party's presidential hope-
ful, stumped at the
Peach Festival in Romeo.
The Midwest is figur-
ing prominently in the
too-close-to-call race,
which will make
Michigan — with 18
electoral votes and heavy
union representation —
a regular stop for the
political parties' caridi-
dates until the Nov. 7
general election.
