In Caucus

Caucus will meet during the con-
stituency caucuses segment of the
Michigan
Democratic Parry
convention 6:30-8
p.m. Friday, Sept. 8,
at Cobo Hall
Convention Center
in Detroit.
Attending will be
pro-Israel activists,
invited members of
Dianne Byrum Congress and other
public officials. The
emcee is State Senator Dianne
Byrum, candidate for the Eighth
Congressional District.
The public is invited at no
charge, and membership is not
required. Coffee will be served.

Israelis) will host Norman Naimark,
speaking on "Ehud Barak:
Expectations and Results" 2 p.m.

The meeting is open to the pub-
lic. Refreshments will be served.

Tchiyah Reelects
President Hansell

The membership of Congregation
T'chiyah reelected Sandy Hansell as its
president. Hansell, one of the found-
ing members of T'chiyah, has been an
active leader for more than 23 years.
Other officers elected for the

membership year are vice presidents ,.
Carol Dmitruk and Mary Ellen
Gurewitz; secretary, Barbara
Goldman; and treasurer, Al
Saperstein. Benjamin Ben-Baruch
and Larry Horwitz were elected to
three-year terms on the board of
directors. Martin Baum, Marcia
Goldsmith Kamin, Sheldon Kohn,
Tova Salinger and Harold Gurewitz
continue to serve as board members.

United Way
Funds JFS

Jewish Family Service, with offices
in Southfield and West Bloomfield,
received $822,643 from United Way
Community Services to provide vital
agency services to the community's
most vulnerable for the 2000/2001
year.
United Way funding to JFS is ear-
marked for assisting with children
and youth in crisis; abuse and

neglect; family and individual coun-
seling, emergency hunger and home-
lessness aid; inaccessible health care;
neighborhood instability and prob-
lems of the elderly.

Adat Shalom Sets
Blood Drive

Adat Shalom Synagogue will hold a
blood donor drive 8 a.m.-2 p.m.
Sunday, Sept. 10, at the synagogue.
Donors of blood must be healthy
individuals who weigh at least 110
pounds. There is no upper age limit,
and they may be as young as 17.
The drive, sponsored by the syna-
gogue's Social Action Committee, is
being chaired by Karen Lewis,
Debbie Portney and Sanford Turbow.
Allow one hour for registration,
blood donation and having juice.
Drop-ins are welcome and will be
accommodated as quickly as possi-
