Bar/Bat Mitzvah

Erica's mitzvah projects included
working with children in the
Friendship Circle and donating to a
charity to help impoverished
Holocaust survivors. She will com-
plete her synagogue service in
Shaarey Zedek's Beth Hayeled pro-
gram.

Sheri Jankelovitz of West
Bloomfield will become a bat mitz-
vah on Saturday, Sept. 2, at
Congregation Shaarey Zedek B'nai
Israel in West
Bloomfield. Rabbi
Leonardo Bitran
will lead the ser-
vices. Participating
alongside Sheri will
be her triplet
brother Elliot and
sister Erica.
Sheri is the
daughter of Stuart and Terri
Jankelovitz and Sheldon and Eva
Hamburger and the sister of Abigail
and Joshua Jankelovitz and Guy
and Aviv Hamburger.
Attending Sheri's bat mitzvah
will be proud grandparents
Abraham and Rosa Lichter of
Miami Beach and David and Geri
Jankelovitz of Chicago.
A seventh-grade student at
Orchard Lake Middle School in
West Bloomfield, Sheri has been on
the principal's honor roll each quar-
ter. Sheri is interested in reading,
movies and the piano. She plays ,
clarinet in the Orchard Lake
Symphony Band.
Sheri's mitzvah projects included
working with children in the
Friendship Circle and donating to a
charity to help impoverished
Holocaust survivors. She will com-
plete her synagogue service in
Shaarey Zedek's Beth Hayeled pro-
gram.

Joshua Michael Rott will become a
bar mitzvah on Saturday, Sept. 2, at
Temple Israel. He is the son of Julie
and Arthur Rott and brother of
Ryan. Proud grandparents are Fern
and David Rott and Robert Seigle
and Judy Mallon.
Excited great-
grandmother is
Lillian Marcus.
Joshua is also the
grandson of the
late Betty Seigle.
Among his
mitzvah projects,

Joshua volunteered at a nursing
home and has assisted for the last
three years when Temple Israel
housed the homeless. An honor stu-
dent at Orchard Lake Middle
School in West Bloomfield, he loves
soccer, football, skiing, swimming
and water sports, as well as spend-
ing summers at Camp Walden.

Britney Lisa Schanes will celebrate
her bat mitzvah during Havdala ser-
vices at Temple Israel on Saturday,
Sept. 2. She is the daughter of
Valerie Schanes and Dr. David and
Sheryl Schanes and sister of Jaclyn.
Happy grandparents are Sherry and
Delbert_Olkerrand
Hannah Schanes.
She is also the
grandchild of the
late Lawrence
Schanes.
Attending
Abbott Middle
School in West
Bloomfield,
Britney enjoys computers, music,
theater, dance and reading. Her
mitzvah projects included assisting
at a children's camp, volunteering
in Temple Israel's media center and
donating to Project ALS.

Andrea Robin Schubiner will be
called to the Torah as a bat mitzvah
on Saturday, Sept. 2, at
Congregation Beth Shalom. She is
the daughter of Elizabeth and
Steven Schubiner and sister of Julie.
Proud grandparents are Janet and
Irwin Robinson of Riverdale, N.Y.,
and Barbara and
Sheldon Schubiner
of Oak Park.
Andrea is an
honor student
Hillel Day School
of Metropolitan
Detroit in
Farmington Hills.
She plays on the
girls tennis and basketball teams at
Hillel and has played softball in the
Birmingham girls league for seven
years.
For her mitzvah project, Andrea
participated in the Friendship
Circle as a mother's helper and vis-
ited with Jewish Association for
Residential Care residents at the
Samuels Home.

Marisa Jaclyn Seiss will celebrate
her bat mitzvah on Friday, Sept. 1,
at Temple Israel. She is the daugh-
ter of Ellen and Leland Seiss and
