ships.
Both officers will
be installed at the region's inaugural
Shabbaton and convention Sept. 8-10
at the Holiday Inn in Wickliffe,
Ohio, near Cleveland.
The Shabbaton will feature as
scholar-in-residence Rabbi Jerome M.
Epstein, the USCJ executive vice pres-
ident and CEO. He will speak on
"The Challenge of the Conservative
Movement: Meeting the Needs of a
Diverse Population."
USCJ International President
Stephen S. Wolnek will install the
region officers and board. Immediate
past presidents of the three founding
regions, including Larry Rockind of
Michigan, will be honored.
"The new region gives us an excit-
ing opportunity to work more effec-
tively as partners with our congrega-
tions in strengthening Conservative
Judaism, both in the synagogue and
in the community," Saulson said. "We
will be able to make friends and share
ideas in a greatly expanded area. As an
added bonus, the new region will
share the same geographic boundaries
as CRUSY [the Conservative youth
movement], enabling us to further
enhance our service to our next gener-
ation of leaders."
To register for the Shabbaton and
convention or other information, call
the Great Lakes and Rivers Region
Cleveland office, (216) 751-0606.
