50 members of the Jewish
Federation of Metropolitan
Detroit's Year 2000 Young
Adult Mission. Their guide was
Mark Myers, Detroit's commu-
nity shaliach (Israeli emissary),
who taught three pre-mission
classes at the Max M. Fisher
Federation Building in
Bloomfield Township.
The participants who visited
Israel in person July 2-12,
received an overview of the his-
tory, politics and daily life of
Israel, while hearing about the
places they'd visit and the issues
they'd encounter.
They also got a word or two
of practical advice.
For example, Myers
explained that on the day the
Mission participants tour the remains of an
